How RecyclEarth tackled E-waste in North Karnataka?

RecyclEarth Foundation is a NPO (Section-8 company) based out of Hubballi, Karnataka. It focuses primarily on E-waste and Glass waste.

RecyclEarth’s Introduction

Founded in December 2021, Mr. Praveen Agadi and Mr. Satish Munavalli are promoters of the organization. The vision of the organization is to help protect and conserve our planet for the present and future generations.

In the northern part of Karnataka, there wasn’t any organization that was focusing on E-waste and Glass waste management. RecyclEarth Foundation took it upon themselves to manage the E-waste and Glass waste (damaged windshields) getting generated in the region.

They started of by operating in only Hubballi-Dharwad. Within a span of one year and seven months, they have expanded their operations in Belagavi, Gadag, and Bagalkote.

How RecyclEarth addressed the E-waste challenge?

While gearing up to tackle the E-waste collection challenge, the top concern the organization faced was to raise awareness about E-waste.

The option chosen was to conduct awareness sessions in educational institutions. Raising awareness at the grassroot was the key and it started working in a big way. The first session happened in Rotary English Medium High School on 27/12/2021.

In one year and 7 months, RecyclEarth Foundation has addressed more than 35,000 people on E-waste awareness in North Karnataka. The aim is to raise awareness to as many as possible and make sure Karnataka is one of the most advanced states in terms of E-waste awareness.

The awareness sessions comprise of video presentations and graphics which help students understand better. During the course of the sessions several students pose interesting questions on the recycling sector, few aspects of E-waste, job and career opportunities.

The most heartening aspect of the sessions is the eagerness showed by students of all age groups to learn about E-waste management. How E-waste management can protect the environment and also assist the economy of our country.
