Prajavani, a leading Kannada daily started an annual campaign in 2020 to honor people who are making a difference. The Hubballi branch of Prajavani had shortlisted 23 candidates from different parts of North Karnataka and different walks of life.
These candidates have made a difference to the society by contributing in their own ways and not expecting any public validation in return. This was precisely the reason why Prajavani picked these candidates and honored them for their selfless body of work.
The chief guests were people of great renown. Prof. S.M. Shivprasad – Director, Karnataka Higher Education Academy, Dharwad. Dr. Shanmukh Hiremath, Heart surgeon, KLE- Suchirayu Hospital, Hubballi. Mr. Prakash Joshi, Founding Director, Shridatta Infratech Pvt Ltd, Hubballi.
RecyclEarth Foundation’s Nayan S Momaya was also one of the shortlisted candidates because of his work on E-waste and Glass waste.
E-waste
RecyclEarth Foundation from December 2021 to February 2023 has collected about 3 tons of E-waste. The E-waste is safely sent to State Pollution Control Board authorized recyclers for environmentally-friendly recycling. The recycled material is sent to electronic manufacturers to be used during the manufacture of new products.
Glass waste
RecyclEarth Foundation’s other focus is on damaged windshields. Glass is an inherently non-polluting material and hence there are no specific frameworks in place for its disposal. As a result, we often see damaged windshields thrown in dumpyards, landfills or outside city-limits.
Awareness
Apart from E-waste and Glass waste collection, RecyclEarth Foundation also conducts awareness sessions among students. Audio-Visual presentations and distribution of E-booklets helps young students understand the dangers of E-waste and Glass waste along with how to dispose them responsibly. So far, RecyclEarth Foundation has raised awareness to more than 7,000 students and the number will only increase with time.
For E-waste donations, kindly contact us and we will be collect the E-waste at the earliest.
